Hi, my name is Andy Pogue. I am a small-town kid from Clinton, Missouri. Like many Midwestern boys, I grew up playing with toy soldiers and Hot Wheels. I set three goals for my life in high school: to serve my God, to serve my country, and to explore the world. While the realities of life have hit me hard at times as a young adult, I try to stay true to my family values of faith, service, hard work, and perseverance.
I am currently serving as a lieutenant in the Amor Branch of the United States Army. In the Army, Pogue stands for P.O.G. (People other than grunts). It is a derogatory term that Infantrymen use to describe support personnel who serve in other capacities other than combat arms. While I have all the respect in the world for Infantrymen, I am out to set the record straight. No matter what role you have in life, you play an important part in the overall success of your team, community, country, society, and the story of mankind. Don’t ever let someone tell you differently.
I have created this blog to share my views and experiences on this “Pogue Life” that I live. Hopefully, this blog will inspire you to continue fighting the good fight. Our time is limited on this earth. Let’s live a life worth living.
